Gouvia Marina
Gouvia Marina, the first privately owned marina in Greece, is situated about 7 kilometers from the town of Corfu and the International Airport. For many years seamen considered the harbor and the bay of Gouvia a natural link between the Adriatic and the Mediterranean Sea as well as a port of call, where they could sail in, to repose, enjoying the climate and the beauties of the island.

In the 17th century Venetian seamen selected the area of Gouvia as an ideal location for creating a naval station and shipyards, remains of which have survived in the region. This tradition has been maintainted until today while sailing yachts and motor boats from all over the world arrive at Gouvia Marina, enjoying the beauties of the sea and the environment, the cool breeze and the beautiful island of Corfu.

The Marina, fully organised, offering facilities and services of high standards, has been operating under the new management since 1996. The total capacity is 960 berths, on both permanent and floating pontoons, while there are dry dock facilities for approximately 520 boats. Moorings are available for boats up to 80 meters long and with 6 meters draught and for period up to 20 years.

The marina operates all year round on a 24-hour basis. Two green and two red lights mark the approach channel to the marina, boats must call the marina on VHF channel 69 in order to receive instructions. The marina's boat and personnel will provide all necessary assistance. After your arrival, you have to check in at the reception office where you will also be informed about all details concerning your stay.

Corfu island

Corfu, according to Homer, the Island of the Phaeacians, was in ancient times famous for the velocity of its vessels and the skill of its seamen. Its strategic position, being a bridge between the West and the East, lured many nations to attempt, and a few to achieve, the occupation of the island. Thus, the identity of the island has been affected by a lot of cultural influences, evidence of which can be seen today, such as the great number of impressive fortresses, historical Byzantine churches, monasteries and ancient monuments, recalling Corfu's brilliant past. Events, having been celebrated for hundreds of years, continue even today, in the same traditional way, like the litanies of St. Spyridon, the patron saint of Corfu, while in the summer time numerous festivals and events take place.

In modern Corfu you will find luxury hotels, traditional accommodation, as well as services referring to a modern city with an excellent infrastructure. With a golf club which has been praised as one of the best in the world, horse riding clubs, many tennis clubs, among which the oldest in Greece, cricket courts and a lot of water sports facilities, the island of Corfu has a lot to offer to the perspective visitor.
The International Airport and harbour link the island with the rest of the world on a daily basis.
