Messonghi and Moraitika
villages are located twenty
kilometres south from Corfu
Town. They are traditional
Greek villages built on a rise
on the east coast of Corfu
Island. The main road to the
south of the island passes
through here, near the village
and through Benitses and Moraitika, northwards, this road runs along the coast, separated from the sea only by a narrow strip of land with views to sandy beaches, the sea and theGreek mainland mountains to the east.
Messonghi village itself is seperated from Moraitika by the Messongi river, which flows into the sea at a point between the two villages. At both sides of the river you can find warm sandy beaches, ideal for bathing, and plenty of tourist services. During the day the life revolves around the beaches and water sports, butas night falls the whole resort is one big party.
The area around SPILEO provides a great
opportunity for some lovely mountain walks.
There are many places of interest to find as
you wander though the olive groves and villages.
Dotted along the way you will come across traditional tavernas like to refresh yourself before moving on to your next destination.
The views to the sea from the mountains are superb and panoramic, and the village is quaint and traditional. The Greek people are notorious for being friendly to passing travelers and will welcome you wherever you go in this area. The map shown provides an overview of the area, but there are excellent guidebooks available which give you more detail and information on the walks and places of interest.

St. George
Sun, sea and an abundance of fine, golden sand are the lingering ingredients of this up and coming area. Miles and miles of golden sand, interrupted here and there by rock fragmentation, affords excellent scope for exploration, not only for those just wanting to take it easy, but also for those seeking hidden places, and for families with toddlers
and older children who wish to spend their time building sandcastles, framing the sun to their liking, or playing and running around and about on this safe, inviting shore.Agios Georgios has the right recipe for a successful holiday and there is something for everyone.
Kavos is popular with British under-thirties and is an established resort for those wishing to party late into the night. Kavos offers a famously huge array of bars and modern clubs of every kind. Tavernas with British menus are plentiful. One or two more traditional Greek places survive but there's no pretending a holiday in Kavos is for those seeking old-style authenticity.

Kavos is 30 miles south of Corfu town and Corfu airport and just over a mile south of the resort of Aghios Petros (St Peters); the latter built to provide a quieter alternative to Kavos , more appealing to older couples or families seeking a beach holiday in Kavos but without being in the midst of the party.
Kavos beach is an impressive five miles long with good quality sand and safe shallow warm water popular with children and bathers. The beach is the other great attraction of Kavos and you will find the usual water sports, beach facilities and beach life. Cape Aspro Kavos with its headland and tree-covered hills is a pleasant walk south with great views and the ruins of a monastery.
